Genmar® takes the lead in environmental initiatives

While the VEC® process and Roplene® system form the cornerstone of Genmar's future environmental excellence, Genmar's environmental initiatives of the past decade have long ago made it the industry leader in pollution prevention.

In 2002, the United States Environmental Protection Agency awarded VEC® Technology its prestigious Clean Air Excellence Award in the category of Air Technology. The award honors those who serve as pioneers in their field and improved the environment in the process.

VEC® technology was also recognized by the Minnesota Environmental Initiative in 2001 and was selected by the editors of Popular Mechanics to receive a 2001 Design & Engineering Award. Chosen by the Editors of Motor Boating and Sailing magazine, the Innovation Award for 2000 was presented to recognize our role in developing leading edge technology in the marine industry. The VEC® process won Environmental and Innovation categories at the 2000 Teckne Awards, Minnesota's technology Oscars, and also earned the 1999 Minnesota Governor's Award for Excellence in Waste and Pollution Management. A feature article on the VEC® process also appeared in the July 31, 2000 issue of Time Magazine.

Throughout the years, Genmar's companies have continually tested and implemented changes to the raw materials and manufacturing process to reduce air emissions and the generation of wastes. This focus continues today in all facets of our operations to allow Genmar to meet its goal of having the cleanest plants and best working conditions in the industry.

Triumph® and its Roplene construction received the National Society of Professional Engineers' award for Best New Product of 1998 and the North Carolina Governor's New Product Award in 1997.

The National Audubon Society acquired a fleet of Genmar's Triumph® boats made of Roplene material, powered by clean running Yamaha 4-stroke outboards, for use by staff members and volunteers in river clean-up and educational projects that are part of the Society's Upper Mississippi River Campaign.

Genmar takes an active role in encouraging boaters to follow safe and courteous boating practices, and every Genmar craft complies with all U.S. Coast Guard regulations and meets or exceeds stringent NMMA certification standards. We also advocate the ethical and respectful treatment of our lakes, rivers and coastlines. We know that the availability of clean, safe boating areas is critical to our long-term success and the future of boating itself.

Genmar's leadership in technology assures the boat you buy today is a better investment, both for your family's enjoyment now, and for trade-in value in the future.
