A history of innovation, a world of opportunities

When Minneapolis businessman and investor Irwin Jacobs purchased Lund® Boat Company in 1978, it signaled more than just the founding of Genmar®. It also represented a new era in the boat-building industry. The Genmar name now includes 12 brands and offers products covering virtually every style of powerboat, from entry-level runabouts to luxury yachts. Genmar boats represent quality design and durable, long-lasting construction.

Genmar is one of the world's largest manufacturers of recreational boats, offering a diverse line of boats made by industry-leading brands such as Carver®, Champion ®, Four Winns®, Glastron®, Hydra-Sports®, Larson®, Marquis™, Ranger®, Seaswirl®, Stratos®, Triumph® and Wellcraft®. Genmar has over 1,000 independent authorized dealers covering all 50 states and six continents.

Genmar has been an industry leader in using and developing new technology to build boats that are the envy of the boating industry and increase efficiency in the manufacturing processes. Genmar developed the VEC® and Roplene® technologies and expects to extend from a boat manufacturer and marketer to a company that develops unique manufacturing processes for marine and nonmarine industries.

The quality that goes into Genmar's manufacturing process has not gone unrecognized, gaining the attention of prominent organizations nationwide and earning several noteworthy awards.
VEC® Technology won the Environmental Protection Agency's prestigious Clean Air Excellence Award in 2002 and was selected by the editors of Popular Mechanics to receive a 2001 Design and Engineering Award. Chosen by the editors of Motor Boating and Sailing magazine, the Innovation Award for 2000 was presented to Genmar to
recognize our role in developing leading edge technology in the marine industry. The VEC® process won Environmental and Innovation categories at the 2000 Teckne Awards, Minnesota's technology Oscars, and also earned the 1999 Minnesota Governor's Award for Excellence in Waste and Pollution Management. A feature article on the VEC® process also appeared in the July 31, 2000 issue of Time Magazine.

Triumph and its Roplene® construction received the National Society of Professional Engineers' award for Best New Product of 1998 and the North Carolina Governor's New Product Award in 1997.
